In a week… “Fashion Scale Topples”
- Anya takes over the world – This week Anya Hindmarch has been named Veuve Cliquot‘s “Business Women of the Year”. The famous British bag designer who is loved by the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Moss and many more became the awards 40th winner! Congratulations Anya! Anya collaborated with Fullers of London in 2010, redesigning the exterior and interior of the “Bag & Bottle” pub in Knightsbridge. Great design + clever marketing strategy = Business Women of the Year.
- Burberry celebrates its rocket sales – Burberry reported a 17% revenue sales increase, which in this economic climate is nothing short of a miracle. “Burberry said the figure reflected restocking by wholesale customers, following reduced demand in the same period last year.” [For the full article click here]
- But not all is well in the Kingdom of Fashion – This week Aquascutum announced that they have gone into administration, a sad moment for British heritage fashion indeed, as the beloved label has graced shoulders such as Winston Churchill’s. According to a report the founder sold 90% of his other company Jaeger for £19.5 million yesterday to a private firm.
